The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has approved the master plan for Jewar International Airport project in Greater Noida. This security clearance has paved the way for starting construction work at the site. Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), UP government's special purpose vehicle for the project, informed that the master plan was sent to AAI to ensure that all technical aspects are being complied with and now the SPV has secured final approval together with the mandatory guidelines and suggestions from the nodal aviation agency
Arunvir Singh, CEO of NIAL, informed that the master plan contains details and layout of the entire space, including runways, terminals, commercial areas, parking and office spaces, among others. AAI is the nodal authority in the country for the technical assessment of all such details for any commercial airport. Zurich International AG subsidiary, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), is also preparing to start construction in the entire area of 1,334 hectares for the first phase of the airport. While five runways have been approved for the airport by the state government, making it one of the largest airports in Asia of which two will be made operational in the first phase.
